More baby stuff this weekend - basically shopping across both days. Picked up wire draws for the nursery cupboard - which meant we have been able to put everything neatly away. Then did a stock take of what we have, and started to make some lists of what we needed. Today we finished off pretty much all of the bedding. Still have a few big items - but will work on those over the next couple weeks.

Al is feeling a little more tired, and finding it a little harder to move around. Want to try and finish all this off in the next few weeks.

Al's been playing the baby lots of different music. It seems to react to songs with lots of clear beats or male singers with deep voices. Tonight Al was coming home from work playing the Star Wars sound track. The baby was going crazy kicking - and for a while Al swore it was to the beat.

The mother in law visited last night. She was picking up a relation from the airport after midnight, and came over beforehand to see the nursery and have dinner with us. Her main enthusiasm in the visit was to see the baby clothes Al's sister had sent us. She had also brought along family photo albums so we could look at Al when she was a baby.

As we move towards becoming parents, we seem to spend more time reflecting on our own. While minor in the grand scheme of things, they certainly have human failings and frailties. We wonder how our child will end up perceiving us.

Al has had a couple rough nights -from allergies and discomfort. I haven't been any help. I'm getting to bed so late that I am soon dead to the world snoring, and don't stir until the alarm goes off.

(Email to Lana.) I am 6 months pregnant now. All still going really well, feeling good so far, and enjoying each stage. Trying to tick off a few items from our 'baby shopping list' each week at moment, and hope to have all that organised within the next month or so, so we don't have too much running around to do towards the end - well that's the plan anyway!

Very busy - but productive. Now have a pram and car seat, and ordered a baby monitor and carrier. Still have lots of individual things to purchase, but all of the expensive items are now paid for. Some of the neighbours have noticed Al is pregnant - their waves and smiles seem bigger than usual. Felt the baby kick tonight - it is reassuring to know it is keeping itself amused. Al is past week 28. Based on the delivery date being within plus or minus two weeks of the due date, we could have a baby in our arms in as little as 10, and out to 14 weeks.

Read an article in the paper today about fuel prices, which as a footnote suggested the world has about 40 years of oil reserves, and 60 years of gas reserves left. That frightened the hell out of me. It means the transportation I have grown up with will likely be very different in the next couple decades. It also means our unborn baby will probably have to live through an energy crisis of some kind in the prime of its life.

(Email to Karin.) I am still feeling energetic most of the time (only occasionally tired at moment) so I am trying to make the most of that to finish off the shopping and other organisational stuff, catch up with the people I want to see before the baby arrives etc, so that I can really try and take it easy in the last month.

Busy as per usual. We have basically finished off the baby product shopping. We completed the nursery - purchasing and putting up window coverings, a small mobile, and an extra wall hanging. The drapes did not work quite as well as we hoped, but are passable. All told we are very happy with the room. It will be functional and practical, and a nice place to spend time in.

We finished off the clothes and linen that we intend to buy before the birth - and also picked up a carry bag. Ticketed off some other recommended or useful items like Nappy Bucket, Bath, Thermometer, Bottles, Steriliser, Play mat etc. There are a few minor items we could pick up if passing a suitable shop, but basically the rest of it will have to wait until after the baby is born. That way we can see how various items go (especially before getting a second car seat), and can account for any gifts our family and friends may give.

I visited the doctor the other day to check out a sore bump on the back of my head. Turned out to be a swollen Lymph node - likely caused by my sinus infection (although I suspect Al hitting me while I sleep). Never knew they located there. While there on such a small matter I checked out a handful of other small things I've been ignoring for years. Turn out to be an interesting visit.

Today we went back to the photographer that did our wedding photos, and had some studio photos taken of Al (and some with me roped in). Will turn out to be an expensive exercise, but we feel confident he will be able to capture Al being pregnant well. She is now 30 weeks, and still going very great. It has been such a positive experience to date.
